Although the WMM has passed over 2 months ago now, there is one movement session that stays with me. This is the writing following this session, (the writing of )which may helped imprint this in my mind…a helpful reinforcement of the power of the writing from an embodied state, as well! : What I learned in my movement practice today is that it doesn’t matter if I can do all of those beautiful, entertaining movements that I love to watch. I say watch because I am not a dance performer. Though occasionally I probably am interesting to watch, I do not consider myself to be an aesethetically advanced in movement practice. But even in the midst of my right shoulder injury, as a result of which my movement practice was quite limited, I was able to feel an energizing of the essence of me throughout my body, and a communion with the divine which had a feel of great reverence. That was downright exciting, and quite affirming for me, I must say. Also the importance of doing only what felt right and respectful to myself, as well as to appreciate all the ways that I could move, and to truly respect my limits and not just have a sense of tolerance of myself for the ways in which I am not presently able to move…good session!
