Hello. I’m Dunya. This blog is devoted to sharing experiences, contemplations, queries, poetry, images and dreams––mine and other practitioners’ ––emerging from the practice of Dancemeditation.
I am a dancer, author, teacher, & filmmaker with an extensive background in mysticism and art. Though my work is healing, being a lifelong artist turns me toward exploration, creativity and aesthetics; for me, spiritual seeking must be rich in Beauty and Mystery. The Dancemeditation site has more about the practice as well as where and when to find retreats and seminars.
My new book, Skin of Glass: Finding Spirit in the Flesh, is literary spiritual memoir about having and exploring dance as spiritual path. For more about it, go to Dancemeditation Books.
If you’d like me to present for your group or school (speak or teach), please email me at: dervish@dancemeditation.org.
Beautiful “Blog” Dunya! I pray for a slower time where I too can have more daily integration of dance mediatation. The site so beautifully chronicals bits of your rich life journey. Reading about Elena’s classes and Fazil makes me want to “whirl in” the gems of those days (the 80’s) in NY……into to present time again.
Seeing the three shots of the workshop in my studio in La Cienega, New Mexico, makes me nostalgic. But as the “whirl” represents the universe continually in flux and never staying the same, we all move on, hopefully with grace, to the next place of awe. All the dance meditators who were at that workshop (in 2003?) should know that, as I sold the place, it is now occupied by another spiritual group. The roots of the space are eloquently embeded with DANCE meditation fractils……..suggesting to future “seekers”…..the importance of being embodied. I feel so blessed to be enriched by your teachings Dunya.
