Current Practice
Jan 9th, 2009 by Dunya
We worked on many practices this last Monastery. Here are a few take-home reminders:
- Sand Tracings & Opening Sequence, of course.
- Three Levels
Remember to always inhabit these in your practice or teaching.
- Rocking
I’ll work on getting that video out soon. With commentary. I’m gettingĀ exciting contributions to this exploration from you.
- Chanting
- Active Perpetual Motion
Put on music, close your eyes, and let your body move and be moved continuously for 45 minutes.
- Do this practice with ease. Don’t push but also don’t stop of fall asleep. Let your mind closely follow your movement, not lead it.
- To initiate relaxation, I strongly recommend beginning by letting your movement emanate from your breathing.
- Most often, if you set your body in motion she will want to follow her own lead. If not, you are probably sick and need to go to bed and sleep. This practice will otherwise unwind stress and emotional drain.
- Do it every day or every other day for a while.
Practice Menu
- Opening Sequence – 3 X per week
- Sand Tracing & Rocking Sequence – 2 X per week
- Perpetual Motion – 4 X per week (20 minutes per session)
- Shadow & Light – 1 X per week (15 minutes per side)
- Fascia Body – daily 10 minutes
- Chant with Movement – 2 x per week (20 minutes per session)
- Always do proper sitting up
The practices outlined above are a balance between released & sustained movement activities, between unwinding and strengthening awareness, and between systemic stimulation and inner communion. Remember those two wonderful word pairs: ingestion & digestion?, excavation & integration?.
And here is an optional but important final step: in your journal, reserve several pages as your practice log. Write down what practice you did and how long you did it.
This page has the following sub pages.
