Practice Basics

1. Begin at the beginning.
2. Always include a rest period in your practice.
3. Keep your diet clean.
4. Give yourself at least an hour to complete a practice. A simple kitchen timer is very very helpful. Set it and keep going until it rings; this will allow you to forget the time and work.
5. When developing the content of your practice, consider the balance between released & sustained movement activities, between unwinding and strengthening awareness, and between systemic stimulation and inner communion.
6. A helpful concluding step: in your journal––perhaps beautifully ‘journal-crafted’––reserve several pages at the back as your practice log. Write down what practice you did, and how long you did it. In this, you witness your work.
